One of the highlights of the second Féile na Laoch weekend was the unveiling of a commemorative plaque to Dónal Ó Mulláin, the composer of many songs including An Puc Ar Buile.

Bhíodh sé ag iomaíocht ag Oireachtas na Gaeilge go minic i lár na haoise seo caite agus is ann a chann sé An Poc Ar Buille chun gur chualadh Muintir na hÉireann ar dtúis é. Lean cáil an amhráin seo ar fuaid an domhain. Ach is mó amhrán eile agus sceál eile do scríobh sé chomh maith.

D’fhág sé féin agus a bhean Siobhán seisear páiste ina dhiaidh.

He was a composer of songs as well as a great storyteller. He used to take part in competitions at Oireachtas na Gaeilge often in the middle of the last century. It is there that he sang An Poc Ar Buille for the nation to hear for the first time. The fame of this song has lasted throughout the world. But many a more song and story has Ó Mulláin also composed. He and his wife had six children.
